Did you mean:

an easy way to delete the yellow lines left by projected geometry

an easy way to delete the yellow lines left by projected geometry

When you project an object into a sketch you get Purple lines to work with.

If you delete - or radically alter - the geometry of that original object those lines remain but turn YELLOW.

Sometimes deleting all those yellow lines in a sketch can really be a pain:

1) usually they're mixed up with your sketch lines and with valid purple project lines that you want to keep;

2) F360 seems to be fussy about how you select a line for deletion, eg you can't select an accessible endpoint but must select the body of the line. Sometimes that's awkward!

I think it would be great to have a shortcut / menu option to simply "delete all expired / invalid / yellow projection lines from this sketch". Then one can get on with the proper job of creation.

Below an example image showing yellow lines that must be deleted from a sketch.

I like this. I've had this problem a few times. It would also be nice to have a recalibration option. As in it identifies all the required projected geometries, and allows you to tell it where the new version is. Often times the geometry of a sketch is build up off a few key projections, and even if you delete the yellow lines, you might still have to rebuild all the dimensioning off of a new projection, rather than just correcting its position.

I agree. A "repair broken references" tool would be ideal. It could jump to each instance of a broken reference sequentially and let you manually pick out the new reference or delete the dangling reference.

@maker9876,

Thank you for your idea, the team is currently evaluation how we handle projected geometry and your input raises a good point about how we can improve feedback.  This idea will change to accepted when work starts.  Below is a link to a video that shows the workflow of selecting a line or point by holding down the left mouse button, you get a list of all the geometry that is in the selection area.  This should make it easier for you to select and delete the yellow geometry.

Thanks.

The left click trick definitely works but if you have a dozen yellow lines to delete is terribly laborious.

Perhaps a solution would an option "delete all SELECTED yellow lines"?

Which would enable a selection of yellow, purple and normal sketch lines to be made in a single drag, then the deletion of only the offending ones. Whilst leaving unselected yellow lines in the sketch for later analysis.

Hey all - I'm happy to report that we have begun a project to allow you to either Delete, Break Link, or Re-link yellow sketch entities! For more details on the current mockup of the workflow, please follow the below link to a different forum post and comment there if you have any questions or suggestions.

Feedback Request : Re-link lost projections

I'm "Accepting" this Idea, but please note that it will take time before this functionality is live in Fusion.

As a temporary workaround this free add-in might help - you can break the links of all yellow sketch entities.

Hello All,

I am glad to give you an update that the latest release of Fusion 360 has the feature called Manage Lost Projections which will allow you to fix broken projection by re-associating.

Please take a look at What's New Blog for further information. There is an option to delete all yellow sketches in one go. You can find the button under Advance Options

Please give it a try and let's know if you have any questions or concerns. You can also reachout to my email id rohit.bapat@autodesk.com in case you want.

Thank you,

Best Regards

Rohit Bapat
