I do not remember seeing this in tutorial.

How do you split a line (or arc, circle, ... ) into a desired number of segments?

Fusion does not have this capability today, unfortunately.  There is this Idea Station entry:  sketching-split-tool that I think captures this request.  Please feel free to vote for it.

What workflow are you trying to achieve with this?  You can achieve this to some measure with placing points driven by equations, but in a lot of cases that doesn't match what you really want, I suspect.

That link has "IMPLEMENTED" already stamped on it!

So the feature already exists, correct?

In my case I wanted to break up part of a sketch and form another object within

(the original sketch) I wanted to extrude.

It seems like the only way to do this is to copy those associated sketch elements (lines, arcs, ...etc ) in current componenet folder

into a new component folder, complete the new sketch and then create the 3D object from the new sketch.

After that, how do you subtract this 3D object's (volume) shape  in the new component from the other component?

Hi @Anonymous, thanks for pointing that out.  I didn't read this very clearly, to be honest.  The title of the idea, I think, matches what you want to do.  But if you read farther on, it talks about splitting bodies, then refers to FUS-7756, which I looked up.  This enhancement, while related, is not really what the idea is asking for.  This enhancement was for the sketch "Break" command, which is kind of like Trim, but without deleting part of the curve.  You can break a curve with another curve.  So, if you wanted to break a curve into N sections, you would have to create a pattern of other curves that intersected your target curve, then break the curve one piece at a time.  I think the original idea of a "Split Curve" would require much less fussing around.  Just select a curve, then enter the number of sections you want, and the curve would get split into that many pieces.

So, I don't see an Idea Station entry for that kind of command, so it might be worth you creating one, and seeing if other people share this requirement.

I can show you how to split a curve using Break if it's not obvious.

You can do this as Jeff has described with "Sketch-> break" but based on your description you don't need to do this to extrude (or whatever) another shape from an existing sketch.

Try to simply draw a sketch with two cirles that are partly overlapping. You can extrude three different shapes from that sketch without having to break the circles into different segments.

To combine two bodies you'd use "Modify -> Combine" the pop up window will offer you three different modes of combining these bodes, join, cut and intersect.
