SKETCH WITHIN AN EXISTING SOLID BODY

Many times I've wanted to sketch within a solid....to make a cavity of sorts. I need to use my existing geometry as a reference, so turning off the viability isn't an option. I can turn on wire frame and construct the sketch, but if I want to go back in to modify it, I cannot select the sketch(because it is inside the body). Solidworks can select through a body without issue, but I just can't figure fusion out. Any help would be appreciated.

I believe you are looking for the sketch option "Slice".  Take a look at the Screencast and see it answers you question.
