Animate bending

Does anyone know of a way to animate the bending of a flat bar? Attached is a screen shot. The flat bar (latch) is mounted to two support posts. I'd like to show it bending at the center post. I can achieve the latch motion desired with a revolute joint positioned at the post closest to the end wall, but when activated it the bar moves through the top of the center post which isn't terribly realistic. Looking forward to hearing your ideas. Thanks.

Thank you for this. I will end up using it when the design is complete to
determine whether the part will stand up to repeated use. For now I think
I'll split the bar and insert the revolute joint at the outside edge of the
second support. This still won't be 100% realistic, but it will duplicate
the actual action that will occur in a finished product.
