Project body curve

I am trying to use a projection of the rocker surface of a surfboard to machine a groove (or channel) in wood. The resulting sketch has several control points. I would like to extend the curve on either end using a spline and then get rid of the control points. Is there a way to do this? When I try to use the generate a machining path, the milling head jumps forward and backward illogically along the segments of path instead of milling a continuous curve from one end to the other.

Try using the Mesh tools to create continuous spline:

  1. In your sketch with the projected spline and extensions, create a closed boundary with the projected spline and extensions as one side of the boundary.
  2. Extrude this.
  3. Save as stl.
  4. Import the stl.
  5. Create a Mesh Section (Sketch|Mesh|Create Mesh Section).
  6. Fit Curves to Mesh Section.

This should give you a curve with only endpoints.

I have just tried it with one projected and 2 added splines.
Here is the result:
