I am trying to use a projection of the rocker surface of a surfboard to machine a groove (or channel) in wood. The resulting sketch has several control points. I would like to extend the curve on either end using a spline and then get rid of the control points. Is there a way to do this? When I try to use the generate a machining path, the milling head jumps forward and backward illogically along the segments of path instead of milling a continuous curve from one end to the other.

Try using the Mesh tools to create continuous spline:
This should give you a curve with only endpoints.
