Extrude from Offset - Bug ?

Hy all,

I was testing some engraving "things" and found an "a bit unexpected" behaviour for the Extrude from Offset if the sketch face is in a tangent plane:

Here is a sample test (see pic):    cut (extrude)  a rectangle into a cylinder side face,  if done from a mid plane sketch  it works as expected. (backside cutout)   If done from a tangent plane sketch - the extrude only cuts half of the profile (front )

(This happens also with other shapes in the sketch like TEXT what was my initial try)

Is this a Bug - or did I just misunderstand the feature?

Grüße aus Heidelberg - Michael

BTW: Below also a short screen cast to explain it in more detail.

It's nice that this is being worked on.  It's of limited use with out the chain faces option-

Then there's the wonky behavior when the object surface curves normal to the extrude direction.  you'll note this doesn't happen on the to side of things-

Are you folks over there still working on this?

Hi @laughingcreek ,

First and foremost - my apologies for replying so late. This notification somehow got buried in my inbox.

Thanks for the additional info.
To answer your question: let me check this with the development team and I'll get back to you.

Hello,

Would there be any way of sharing this file with me so that i can better investigate the issue?

Also, if you would be able to include more information regarding what you are trying to achieve as the screen recording isn't very clear, that would be most appreciated.

I have done a fair amount of testing in this region but would love to better understand if this is a bug or a hopeful improvement.

The more information given, the better equipped we can be in getting back to you with a hopeful remedy
