Revit Coplanar lines

Attempting to start using Fromit in current project workflow...  Exported Revit file to DWG to create conceptual modeling options on existing modeled elements.  But, when I import the DWG all geometry has coplanar lines creating unnecessary vertices and not very useful model.  I tried exporting different file types from Revit but all of create the same issue.  I know the backflow of revit to Formit is not figured out, but using Revit geometry for base models for conceptual design is necessary for our typical workflow and seems like it should work.  Am I doing something incorrectly?  Any advice would help.

Reference image is attached

I intend to use Formit in the future at the start of a project but anticipate this need in any project going forward...

Thanks,

Daniel

Glad to hear you are ramping up on FormIt! A couple of suggestions

  1. Try exporting SAT from Revit instead of DWG (although I am impressed with the results you were able to get with DWG initially) Since Revit works primarily with solids, most of the elements you export to SAT should be watertight.
  2. If you are still getting watertight issues, one thing you could do is hide those elements in the Revit view. The SAT export respects the visibility settings of that view. If you really need to work with those elements, you could isolate them, import them as a separate SAT file and then fix the watertight/coplanar issue using 3D sketching.  Assigning different objects to different Layers in FormIt will help with visibility.

good luck!
