Is there any way to view the model in orthogonal view (Parallel projection instead of perspective)

Only in a top view - there is no 3D ortho view or Elevation view yet.

Thank you and hope that FormIt will have this feature soon. It'll be very useful on presentation.

Yes, I very much agree - orthogonal 3d, and elevations are very good, and standard, communication tools.

We also plan to add a section tool in the future. If you were to rank these three features - which would you say is most important to have first?

A) Ortho Elevation Views (similar to FormIt Top View)

B) Ortho 3D Views (similar to Revit default ortho 3D Views)

C) Section tool to graphically cut geometry and see inside

Thanks,

Tobias

Nice to here that. All those 3 issues are important in preliminary design. But if I have to rank them, A is my first priority.

thank you

Thanks for sharing your opinion - it helps us to prioritize our work.

I also appreciate the tweet! Thanks for helping to get the word out about FormIt!

I need to clarify that we're not sure when elevations or sections will be included in FormIt.

We do have other on-going projects planned first.

I use the word 'future' to indicate that it is something we're aware of as a customer request - so we want to do the project.

Thanks and keep the feedback coming.

Tobias

As I am working for Interior Architecture, I would say C.

Have there been any improvements in the software capabilities on these view options? I was hoping to use the software for teaching a large cohort of future spatial designers but the inability to set orthogonal views and cut sectional planes is likely to mean we are not able to use Formit for our students. It is a shame at it is a perfect fit beside this limitation.

Hi Anna,

Thanks for reaching out and reinforcing this request.

Orthogonal views will be available in the next version of FormIt, which will be released very soon. I can't promise a date, but it'll be available within the first quarter of this year.

It's going to be a fantastic update, with this feature and many other that have been highly-requested. Get excited!

Thanks for that info Josh, much appreciated. I am really hoping that we are able to use Formit but with the semester starting late February it might be too tight in time depending when the update comes out. I will see if I can wing it in hope that the update has come out towards the latter half of the semester when the view options are definitely needed.

Sounds great! Thanks for the willingness to give FormIt a try. I think you'll be impressed with the improvements!

I should also mention that section planes are already available in FormIt. Once we release the new version, you'll be able to use orthogonal views in conjunction with section planes to create section-elevations.

Thanks again josh!
Formit is very well suited to what our first year students need. They go on to learn Revit in future semesters so the easy conversion between the two makes it all the better for them.

They are? I was under the impression I needed to cut solid with solid to produce a section, but am only just learning the in’s and out’s of the software myself so might have missed this.
