new formit revit link for conceptual massing does nothing !!! HELP

hi, i have told my 2nd year class (students, educational licence) to conceptually mass in formit and then use the converter to bring the file into revit, have since discovered that this is no longer the correct method for users of 2022.. when i launch formit from revit and draw a box for example, when i bring it back into revit, its a complete dead duck.. you cannot create a wall or a roof using the mass builder method from before, whatever comes in from formit just sits there unable to be selected bar selecting the whole object... I have read online etc that this can be a conceptaul massing model, but how ???? if you cannot select a face of a wall how do you possibly change it to a wall type... can someone please explain this new process as i have students cursing formit etc as they have had to basically recreate everything again in revit because it just transfers as a giant single unselectable lump !!!!

cheers Ewan

Hi Ewan,

Sorry for the frustration.

If you look at our FormIt + Revit documentation page and search for "By Face", you'll see that you can use the By Face tools you're used to:

  • Launch FormIt via the 3D Sketch button
  • Start an in-place family in Revit using the Mass or Generic Models category
  • Draw some geometry in FormIt or open a FormIt model
  • Select the FormIt objects you want to send to Revit, and click the Send to Revit button in FormIt (or just choose to send everything)
  • Exit the in-place family edit mode in Revit
  • Use the By-Face tools as you did before

Hope this helps.
