Formit Collaboration Issues

Has anyone come across this issue while using the collaboration session feature on the Formit web version?

 

After successfully starting a live collaboration session with 4 other members of my team we began seeing issues. Members in the session were being booted out and would then have to click the link and log back into their account to access the session. The problem seemed to occur anytime someone would make a change to the model. After a couple minutes of making changes the session would throw an internal error and close the out. Any clue as to why something like this would occur? All members were logged in with valid A360 accounts.

Hi Matthew,

 

Sorry for the issues. A few questions for you:

 

- When the Collaboration session starts, is someone opening up a specific model for everyone to work on? Or are you all starting with a blank canvas?

- Is there a particular action that seems to cause the cascade of syncing issues and disconnects? 

- Is everyone using FormIt Web?

Hi Josh

 

We are currently testing Form-it Collaboration tools.

The server disconnects pretty often, most of the time the connection lasts for less than 5 minutes. 

We have tried starting from a blank canvas, and with an ongoing project. 

We are just modifying geometry and, adding lines and groups. 

We have tried with local and BIM 360 hosted models. 

We have tried with local copies of Form-it and the Web version as well. 

Do you have any suggestions that might help?

Sorry for the trouble, and thanks for posting.

 

We'd like to identify what specifically is going wrong, so we can fix it. Can you describe steps that lead to Collaboration failing consistently for you?

Hi Josh

 

So far we are collaborating with a file containing a Box. After we are just trying to create and move geometry. 

Using solid creation and also line - surface - pulling.

We have tested this with a file hosted on my PC and in BIM 360 as well. 

The connection won't last more than 5 minutes, after some successful live updates, it will eventually disconnect.

We're aware of a few issues with FormIt Collaboration, and it sounds like you may be experiencing them. 

 

We're making major changes which will improve the reliability of Collaboration in the upcoming release of FormIt, coming this spring. 

 

Keep an eye out for the update - it should resolve the behaviors you're seeing. Until then, we apologize for the inconvenience.
