Version to be replaced with revision

Version to be replaced with revision

Idea for version to be replaced with revision. Since version does not equal revision and since revision is a very important element (while version is not important), revision should be displayed in ACC, without needing to open the document to see what it is. It is very confusing to see V5 for a document in revision 01 for example. An idea how this could may be working for single uploading would be that each time you want to upload a higher revision to be asked if this is a version (for example you want to upload an updated version on the same revision) or is a new revision, in this case the system could alert if somebody is trying to upload the same revision. For uploading revision for mass uploading an idea would be to develop an importer where you could upload for example 100 docs together with a list that would have doc no., title & revision, etc

I agree to some extent, only expanded.  I think Build needs to ADD a revision column and keep version if necessary.  From a documents control and "drawing" log standpoint, version is absolutely useless.  This would be fine, perhaps, for a virgin project, but even then, generally pre-IFC (pre-Issued for Construction) drawings have lettered revisions and the first IFC is Rev. 0.  There are also times when mark ups need to be maintained on a drawing's current revision and another version of the same revision is needed for particular mark ups.  Our company does a lot of upgrades and renovations in pharmaceuticals, so we often work off existing plant drawings that have already been revised several times in the past, so we may start a project with Rev 14 or 14A, so version doesn't help much on a drawing log which would allow it to be used for record and for audits.
