Section box for point cloud viewer

Section box for point cloud viewer

Viewing point clouds in ACC Docs could benefit with having the ability to create a section box or clipping plane.  For example, a point cloud of a building interior includes the ceiling, but to view the interior of the point cloud, its generally easier to have a clipping plane cut the point cloud below the ceiling to see the interior instead of trying to zoom and navigate to the interior of the point cloud.  I was surprised to find a section box or clipping plane not available in the viewer, as I use this tool frequently with point clouds, especially non-structured ones.

Sorry used Revit terms with Section Box.  To clarify, the Limit Box functionality out of ReCap is what I'd love to see in the ACC point cloud web viewer.

Agree. The lack of the limit box tool makes the viewer almost unusable for architectural applications

@ericcrowe and @gmartinez8UG9Y You're both commenting good things, but I don't see that you've voted for this idea yet???

I just voted for the first post.  Is that what you mean?  I didn't know that was something you were supposed to do.

@ericcrowe, That is exactly what I meant.  This is the ACC Ideas forum.  This is where you are supposed to vote for ideas and present ideas related to ACC.  There are many different Ideas forums out there for the different systems.  If it hasn't already been presented as an idea, post a new idea.  If the idea has been presented, then vote for that idea to let Autodesk know that you want this functionality or update as well.  If you have a suggestion on how to make that idea even better, present that in a comment and others can vote for your addition as well.  That is the primary purpose of this forum.

One big thing to remember in the Ideas forums is to always search for an idea before presenting your own.  Frequently duplicate ideas are cast just because they word things differently or use slightly different terms.  Be sure to use a couple different searches to see if your idea is already out there.  Also, One Post, One Idea.  Try not to lump different ideas into one post.  By separating your ideas into different posts, the engineers can more easily see which ideas are more important to the people.

Welcome to the black hole (because it sucks you in) that is the Autodesk Ideas forums.  LOL  j/k... mostly.
