Permission for Photos

Permission for Photos

Hi ACC team,

I’d like to suggest adding a permission feature for photos where visibility can be restricted to specific roles or groups—such as allowing only the management team to view certain images, while hiding them from subcontractors.

This would help manage sensitive content more efficiently and ensure only relevant stakeholders have access.

Thanks for considering this!

The feature is absolutely necessary, as everyone has access to the photos at the moment.

As noted above @annika.kirsch @cstappas just repeating this feature is absolutely necessary, as everyone has access to the photos at the moment. I have posted a similar thread, and spoken/correspondended with my account manager numerous times on this. I hope @autodesk listens if they can hear this!

I am trying to integrate a system that allows us to upload expense receipts into Photos so that we can add them as references in Cost Management/Cost/Internal Expenses. Not every member of the project needs to see all photos. These should definitely have a permissions setting to restrict access. Another idea is to be able to create folders and place permissions on said folders. @autodesk

We are aware of the importance of this functionality for everyone and we are actively working on a solution. Thank you all for the feedback and stay tuned for more updates on this topic in the future.

@jonminick - In addition, allowing multiple photos to be deleted at once would improve efficiency. Currently only one photo can be deleted at a time.

Photos should absolutely have permission controls. At a minimum, administrators should have the ability to remove unwanted or inappropriate images. Without this safeguard, there’s a real risk that an external user (supplier/subcontractor) could post something that should not be visible to stakeholders, leading to problematic outcomes.

Permission Controls are a must for adding Photos to the photo section of ACC.  Without these controls subcontractors and others that have permissions can just add whatever photos they want which poses so many issues such as a large volume of random photos or photos not tagged/labeled therefore useless further down the line when looking at them, inappropriate photos, etc.

The team members that do have permission to add photos should also be able to delete photos.

@jonminick - In addition, allowing to edit meta data of multiple photos at once would also improve efficiency. At the moment, for example, the location of only one photo can be edited at a time.

When photos are taken within a Form while using the mobile ACC app, the 'location' given to the Form is not automatically coupled to the photo (this is the case while using the web application...). This means we have to add the location to each photo individually manually (we use the 'location' to filter photos).

@jonminick   Hello Jon, thanks for accepting request and taking it forward for next steps toward development. Added to the permissions aspect are the notes immediately above from @joey.gelderblom . Multiple editing of photos, (including locations, tags) is a must, as well as multiple deleting by admins.

@jonminick - Thanks for the feedback on this- I think we are all in agreement that we need bulk editing of photos, and the ability to group/ sort by tags or folders. Even a group by tag to make it work like the photos were added to folders would be great. Per missioning by tags or folders would be a great add- that way we could make some photos available without having to manually share them all.

Hi @Tim.Kelleher1  I believe by looking at the status of this feature suggestion as 'accepted' that this will be take forward by ACC.

@jonminick where are we with permissions on photos? Is this happening this quarter? This is a BIG ask and we'd love to hear how this is going.

Just to add, it should also be linked to the following Forum topic , and addressed at the same time

Any updates? 7 months seems like a LONG time to wait for such a critical update.

Hello @jonminick at Autodesk(and all others), it would be good to get some clarity around the implementation of this Idea Board request.

I did get a notification on the 28/03 (seemingly from yourself) which states the enhancements below have been released in March 2026.

However I cant see any changes to the way the Photos module works for me, either as a user or administrator.

Has this been implemented or not, and if so has it been applied to all regions ? (We are on the EU server)

I am also hoping that bulk application of locations to photos will be included in this update, but will just have to wait and see.

Hope to hear soon, either directly or via an update on this thread.

Albums and Permissions in Photos

New Build projects will be able to organize photos into albums and restrict access to those albums using permission management.

Bulk Download, Delete and Move:

Users will be able to select multiple files when they want to make changes such as deleting, moving, or downloading.

the new changes are unfortunately only available in new projects. no changes on the hundreds of old projects...
very sad.
is there any plan from Autodesk to make it available also for the ongoing projects?

Im gobsmacked... really... Surely this can be implemented for existing projects that have years to run. This leaves us so exposed to commercial claims, its not worth using if this cant be implemented. Can anyone point me towards the complaints forum....?
