I don't usualy ask for improvements when the problem is the user lack of knowledge in the software/tool, but in this case I will make an exception because I think averybody would be on board with this.
So the problem is more than 75% of our partners don't configure publish views to ACC, so we end up with the default {3D} view.
Problem start when that view gets a scope box applied that makes impossible to use the compare tool or do a clash detection or have a federated view. It's a mess...
Of course we could ask the partner to fix it, but that can take time - time that we don't need. And that is if they are nice... That's not a garantee... even though that could be in the BEP (Building Execution Plan).
Bottom line - we get our own work compromized even though the model is there and was delivered...
What I want is the possibility to set the rules for the published 3D directly in ACC, and have ACC create that view - after all those rules are pretty simple, right. So everything of the last fase with no scope box. If a special filter or design option needs to be configured, we could configured later after talking to the partener in the very rare cases that is an issue (and that can be when dealing with attached links that are repeated and have options).
Those rules could be controled by the administrators and the respective team.
I think this revised workflow would be amazing.
It would even remove the need to have a bunch of views in revit just for ACC publish that no one can use..., so it could make the model lighter in some cases... (not that I would stop to have the Navisworks view in the model, but still, that could be something that other teams could see the benefit).
So, please, think about it Autodesk. I really think this would be a great improvement. Thank you.
PS: that would apply to any viewer, so we could always have full control of revit visualisation in ACC and/or the Viewer when the file doesn't have published views.
