Forms - Expand Conditional Logic Options

Forms - Expand Conditional Logic Options

When creating Forms on ACC the Conditional Logic options are very restrictive, and we would like to have more customisation possibilities.  In the below example, I would like more options to choose from in the drop down menu, and most importantly, I would want a bespoke text field. I want the form to be able to say "If no, please write why" and a text field option where people can type in their answers without having to make it a separate question for it, and the option to say "if yes, please skip question 6" for example, and for question 6 to be greyed out if someone has selected yes. This will stop people from filling out wrong or unnecessary sections, and would make the forms more efficient.

When creating a Form template it would be very useful to be able to make questions dependent on eachother depending om an answer. For exemple when choosing the answer yes on a question you are required to anser a follow-up question - a bit lika the function with conditional logic but insteed of a photo or a issue you are required to give a description or answer another question. This would reduca a lot of unneccasary questions that would only be relevant if choosing one alternativ answe on questions.

Be careful here as the conditions do not guarantee accuracy.
Try adding one or two reviewers per template that would be checking other people's entries at random or 100% where necessary. It's making a difference to us

@anna_wahlsten This might be a workaround worth trying. At least until there is a product update.

Create an issue type "For Information/Review". Configure it to be very simple, with only the very basic parameters.

Then if the check is "No" then must raise an issue for Information/review.

This way you give someone an opportunity to have a say if the reason they chose no was acceptable or not

Hope it works

We’re implementing ACC Smart Forms for our HSE team and need the ability to show or populate fields based on user selections (e.g., displaying an "Amount" field when a specific option is chosen). Currently, this isn’t possible forcing us to create multiple sections for each variation—leading to inefficient and complex forms. I think this can be easily addressed under conditional logics. We’d appreciate enhanced field-level conditional logic to simplify form building and improve usability. Thanks for considering this.

Add Forms items workflow functionality such that the person editing the form would be directed to different questions or sections, or must answer additional questions if they answer a question with a certain response.

We would like something similar to this functionality as well. Having questions as a condition to a "no" response is something we would find alot of value in.

Similarly- We would like the functionality to mark an entire section as "N/A" instead of having to mark each question as "N/A"  An Example of how we would use this-  on our Daily Safety Assessments we have sections that if the hazard - ex confined spaces, is not present on the job site we don't need to assess any confined space requirements. Having the ability to mark the entire section of Confined Space section as "N/A" would save alot of time and clicks.

I agree, there should be more options. An "easy" fix would be new options like "Require a Note" and "Suggest a Note". That would have been a small but great update.
Use case: If you choose N/A --> Require a Note. Just to clarify why it is N/A?
This could also help in this use case to avoid a lot of questions Additional fields added in forms based on answers. - Autodesk Community

I would love to see the functionality of conditional formatting be improved. I think it would be really helpful to be able to tie questions together. For example: If a specific control is not required (shoring, hot/cold weather controls, etc.) I should be able to select no or N/A and then the follow up questions for that control should go away and not be a part of that form.

This would make it so final forms would have less information and would be a little more user friendly for filling out in the field.

SO many ways to improve conditional formatting.

I would definitely agree with, at a minimum, adding in the "suggest a note" and "require a note" - there are many times when that is all we need and want added to the form.

And there are many times we would like to open up a new section, or require answers to additional questions, based on a specific response. Gated logic in form building is a fundamental tool in many other platforms - especially for complex safety reporting that has a high amount of data needed for certain types of incidents.

I would also like to see the option to disallow "N/A" as an answer.  N/A is not a true Boolean - it is a "non-state" that breaks many pieces of business logic and programming (we deal with it constantly with Revit API - check box parameters are not in any state by default). Are there questions we may have on a form that do have "N/A" as an option - yes. But there are other required questions that have no business offering "N/A" as an option.

It would be helpful if the Form Templates supported conditional branching logic based on user inputs, similar to the functionality provided in Microsoft Forms. This would allow irrelevant questions to be hidden depending on one or more answers, improving the overall user experience.

I agree that these branching questions could lead to more powerful things like safety, quality or cost.  Also responsibility of design, PM, owner, etc.  then those answers could help in routing.

This is very much needed! More "if/than" question functionality.  Glad you made the suggestion.

In the Forms module, it would be very useful to populate certain questions dynamically based on the answers to previous questions.

This is a really good idea.

Great concept, also looks like a duplicate of this one: Forms - Expand Conditional Logic Options - Autodesk Community

Vote to hopefully get this considered for development.

We would like the ability to create another question based on the response to the original question.  If Yes, then the user would be prompted to answer another related question.

I agree!  It would be great to require or suggest a note in addition to photos and issues.
