Forma Takeoff Estimating Integration) English: Live & Automated Quantity Takeoff Integration from Forma Concepts

Currently, during the early feasibility and conceptual design phase in Autodesk Forma, estimators and project managers have to manually export geometry or recreate models in Autodesk Takeoff to get rough cost estimations. This creates a disconnect, slows down decision-making, and leads to data loss.

The Idea / Solution:

We need a direct, live integration between Forma and Forma Takeoff / Estimating.

  • When a user designs a conceptual building, creates zones, or assigns functions (e.g., residential, commercial) in Forma, the platform should automatically generate a high-level Quantity Takeoff (QTO) dashboard.
  • Any real-time change in the Forma 3D model (like adding a floor changing building footprint, or altering facade areas) should instantly update the estimated material quantities and cost projections.

Why it matters

This will bridge the gap between design and pre-construction, allowing teams to run instant cost-benefit analyses on different design variants before moving to detailed BIM Collaborate or Revit workflows.
