Can you create a link between contract templates in the cost tab of the project settings and Cost-> Subcontract Type. SO that when one subcontract type is shown then only certain templates are allowed to be used. Similar to the idea of custom attributes being linked to the subcontract type. This would help limit people using the wrong templates when generating.
