On every project there are standard groups of people who need to be copied on activities that occur in one or more modules in Forma. Some modules have their own idiosyncratic ways to manage default Watchers based on review templates (Submittals) or default workflows (RFIs). Correspondence and Transmittals lack the ability to set default Watchers entirely.
Creating a new agnostic Watcher Group management function that cuts across all modules would save time managing complex distribution lists and ensure project teams have one place to make updates to those lists when needed. This would probably live under Project Admin and function like Roles as a way to group Members on a project into different Watcher Groups. Then each module could allow users to select Members, Roles, Companies, or Watcher Groups as Watchers on each record (or in the default settings), so each time a record is created, the members of that Watcher Group are populated in the Watcher list by default.
Unknown if the Watcher list should have the name of the Watcher Group (to allow for continuous alignment with Watcher Group changes) or the individual Member names (decoupling the Watcher list on the record from the Watcher Group at the time of record creation).
