ACC Library Permission Control

ACC Library Permission Control

In the current setup, the ACC Library can only be managed company-wide by the Account Admin. However, in most cases, the ACC account is managed by a very specific group of people, and not everyone is allowed to handle account-related information.

The Library is currently tied to the Account Admin role, but this should not be the case. Typically, the Library is managed on a project-by-project basis. Shared parameters vary by project, and Revit families also differ from one project to another. Therefore, it doesn’t make sense to keep the entire Library restricted at the Admin level.

Instead, the Library should be managed by selected groups of people from different disciplines and roles. For example, a QA/QC form should be managed by the QA/QC Manager, without requiring that person to be an ACC Admin. A QA/QC Manager should not need account admin rights just to manage their relevant library content.

Yes I totally agree with you. You should not have to hand over the keys to the entire kingdom just to let someone manage the Parameters, Classifications, Content Catalogues, etc. By having to give a person full Account Admin access who is not designated/trained as an Account Admin, it undermines completely the ability of the primary Account Admin to have full control and maintain security to the overall account and its project content. As an Account Admin a remedy to rectify this would be most welcome.

Ok an update to this as in fairness to Autodesk they have rectified the above situation in the newer Autodesk Forma (which replaced ACC) I hadn't spotted it in Forma and only found it by chance when digging around. A new access level has been added called "Standards administrator" which when assigned to a member gives them access to the Hub Admin page (formerly Account Admin page) however instead of them seeing all that the Account Admin can see they now only see "Project Templates" and "Library" - they do not see any of the other account areas managed by the Account Admin such as Projects (overall), Members, Companies, Roles, Subscriptions, Apps, Products and tools, Custom Integration and BIM 360 Admin. So this is a positive feature added in Forma. When you add the "Standards administrator" access to a member they automatically receive an email from Forma notifying them they are now a Standards Admin. As an Account Admin this added access level is indeed a welcome addition for managing access as needed.
