LMTOOLS not serving license

Hello all,

I've migrated my license server to a new virtual machine and I'm having problems to get the license served to the client laptops. I've properly installed the LMTOOLS and got the license with the flexsimserveractutil.exe app. And also created the rules for firewall. When I run the log of LMTOOLS what I get is the following:

17:17:21 (lmgrd) Please Note:

17:17:21 (lmgrd) In order to capture accurate license
17:17:21 (lmgrd) usage data into an organized repository,
17:17:21 (lmgrd) please enable report logging. Use Flexera's
17:17:21 (lmgrd) software license administration solution,
17:17:21 (lmgrd) FlexNet Manager, to readily gain visibility
17:17:21 (lmgrd) into license usage data and to create
17:17:21 (lmgrd) insightful reports on critical information like
17:17:21 (lmgrd) license availability and usage. FlexNet Manager
17:17:21 (lmgrd) can be fully automated to run these reports on
17:17:21 (lmgrd) schedule and can be used to track license

According to above output, everything seems to be normal, like in manual. The VM is perfectly reachable from my laptop, can connect even remotely and so. But for some reason that I don't get, when I open FlexSim in my laptop with the concurrent server license defined on that server (either only ESVLCVDT0026 or 26914@ESVLCVDT0026).  It never gets the license delivered.

In the old server it was working with lmadmin, but as lmtools is recommended, we have changed to this. But firewalls and permissions are the same in both machines. Only difference is that this new machines is Win11 and older is Win10.

Any idea on the root of the problem?

Thanks in advance.

You can refer to this post and then make sure to use the updated "flexsimserveractutil" program to activate the software authorization.

Hi @joaquin_macanas ,

Indeed, it appears from your log file that all is in good order for the license server hosting your licenses properly. Please verify connectivity between your client PC and your license server using the "Advanced connectivity - ports test" information found here:

License Server - Client/Server connectivity - Autodesk Community

Use the same license server naming scheme you are trying to use in your software. So in your case:

Test-NetConnection ESVLCVDT0026 -Port 26914

Test-NetConnection ESVLCVDT0026 -Port 56914

If that does not work, try a more exact server name or address. You may need to add more parts to your license server name, like (just an example - contact your network engineers to find the real network scheme!):

ESVLCVDT0026.mycompany.corp

If you still are not getting a connection, double check the firewall exceptions. If you opened the ports 26914 and 56914, you may want to also allow the executables lmgrd.exe and flexsim.exe as described here ("Allow an app through Windows Firewall"):

lmtools - Add Windows Firewall exceptions - Autodesk Community

If you previously allowed the executables, that should be enough, but for a belt-and-suspenders approach you could also specifically open ports 26914 and 56914 (though I've never seen that be necessary if you allowed the apps through the firewall).

You may also check that the version of the license activated on your license server is the same as or greater than the version of software running on your client PC. For instance, if your license server is hosting FlexSim 25.1 licenses, but you are starting FlexSim 25.2 on your client PC, the client software will not be licensed.

Let us know what you find. Good luck.

Hello @Ben_WilsonADSK and @wangyangWTKKN ,

It seemed some kind of confict on the services. Since we had both installed the LMTOOLS and the lmAdmin. We did a clean reinstall of LMTOOLS and deleted rest of things and seems to be working fine now. Thans for the fast reply on both of you.
