Autodesk Interop Module - Improvement

Autodesk Interop Module - Improvement

Hi
I dont know how many of you have gained experience with that tool.

I at least start to use it for every project.
Ideas to improve:
- 3D-View selection when opening the model

- possibility to select, what Category will be shown in Flexsim
- possibility to select a 2D-View to use it like a 2D-DWG import

next level will be, when you make the Revit-Family import possible for Items.

I dont like to use the standard prozessor, I know there is a workflow with AutoCAD and Inventor. but there are many users out there using Revit and Revit has really bad collaboration with Autocad and Inventor.
so please, also work on improvement to import Revit-Families with Type-Selection for the "Shape" to have the specific Items in Flexsim.

My workaround for the 3D View right now is

- create a separat file

- delete all 3D views

- create one new for FlexSim

- hide items you don't like to appear in FlexSim

- purge

- save

- load to FlexSim

Disadvantage of that workflow?
need to do again for every revision... 😞
working with Options require to create different files for import to FlexSim 😞

Revit project files are currently only supported for import as background.
The import of layouts is based on Factory Design Utilities (FDU) that interact with AutoCAD and Inventor. The FDU also generates the “layoutdata” data format. The import to FlexSim is performed via the layout data.
However, the “shape” of a FlexSim object can be changed using a Revit family.

Hi Daniel

you are right,
At the moment it is, as you have written.
BUT - not every company is working the same workflow as you are inventing.

Revit-Projectfiles contain also 2D-Data as a view. why not to make it available? that's what I am asking for.
And, why not make the view for 3D selectable, I assume using the API, its just a short jump to make it selectable.

and... the "Autodesk Factory Design Utilities 2024 - English" I tried to install. failed, because my laptop has no min spec for the FDU. I have a DELL high level CAD-Laptop with 12th Gen Core i7 (2.1GHz and 64 GM RAM, with a 8 GB GraphicCard.

so please spend some effort on the import from Revit to have a broader option for adding data
