Hi ayanazafeera,

As far as I am aware, I never created a Batch Tutorial for Matchbox because it is really easy to use in Batch.

I did the Action videos because of how Matchbox tools can be applied to maps, camera and how they access 3D information from Action.   None of this is required for using Matchbox in Batch.  You treat it like any other node.

For example, in the Batch Node bin, just look for the Matchbox node.   Drag it out and it will launch the file browser.  You choose your Matchbox tool and it will be applied to the node when you return to batch.

All that is is left is to do is to connect your inputs and go into the Matchbox node and start tweaking settings.

Does that answer your question or is there anything particular you are looking for?

Regards

Grant

thanks for the prompt reply. The particular function I'm looking for is in Rays/Glow in Matchbox, I cant seem to get it to emit/glow from a matte. The Input configuration looks right, front : input 1, matte : input 3. The result is just not right. It doesnt behave like sapphire. Thanks!

Hi ayanazafeera,

I don't think that Matchbox would get it exactly the same but if you could post a screengrab of what you get with sapphire and what you get with matchbox, we might be able to suggest a few ideas.

Hi, I dont have sapphire anymore in the machine to give you an example I'm looking for. Basically I'm asking is there a way for glow in matchbox to read the matte input. Because now, when I plug in matchbox glow with a matte, the whole scene glows, not only the item with a matte.

Maybe try something like this... Multiply the source by the matte, glowing that via matchbox, then adding or screening the result over the bg?

Maurys suggestions should get u there, the key thing to remember is that yes matchbox can be a sapphire replacement, however matchbox will not always behave the same way as u r used to with sapphire. I'd devote a fair amount of time to playing with matchbox equivalents to sparks u used to use to see how to get what ur used to achieving with sapphires.
That said i use sapphire and matchbox, both great tools

Hi ayanazafeera,

The other people answering the thread are correct with the suggested methods.

The Sapphire Glow spark is doing multiple operations including the glow as well as comping with the matte all in one node.

I do believe it might be possible to do that if the matchbox was rewritten.

However in its current state, the Glow Matchbox is only doing a glow to the matte and front.   You will need to use the other nodes such as COMP to perform the operations going into the node as well as going out.   Depending on whether you want the glow under the matte or over the matte will determine how you connect the nodes in the Batch flow-graph.

Please hit the Accept as Solution button if my post fully solves your issue or answers your question.

Kind Regards

Grant
