I need to engrave numbers on some parts that need to be .040 tall.  I go to create the text and the only thing that I see is to tell it the height of the text is scaling.  I have no idea how to get featurecam to give me a height of .040 tall.  Can somebody explain this to me.  I am confused about this.

yah, text is a little wonky.

You can change the size of the text in the font dialog, a size 20 is .250 inch tall and a size 10 is .125 inch tall.

You need to use a combination of font size and scaling to get good results, sometimes using very small font sizes will produce poor results so use a larger font size and scale it down.

I usually draw a box for size and location then use it as a guide for making the text fit. Fortunately it's easy to edit and change the text.

Don't think we've made text that small, usually .125 tall here.

It was explained top me a long time ago by FC support staff. When you choose your font ALWAYS choose a font size of 72. Then in the Scaling: you put whatever size you want for your text. In your case you would use .04 in both boxes. This works really well and the size of the text comes out pretty close.

OK, 72 and use Scaling. Works very well. Is the 72 based on 1 inch? Quite that does not fit, different from font to font. I measure the letter in 72, calculate the wanted size divided by the measured size to 72. The result is the scaling in X and Y to enter. Fits 100%. From the desired size please deduct the width of the engraving before. In my case, width 0.4 mm. Which fonts are at FC Einzeilig? Which font is best for single-line engraving of text? Which typefaces do you use to engrave single-line text? Fonts have to be experimented for a long time to get an accurate result! Would like to get to know your experiences closer! Would be very grateful. In the font I use machine tool SanSerif, gives a reasonable look of the font. All others are not really usable, more or less! At least for one-line engraving! I look forward to the knowledge of you. Thank you in advance! I post a screenshot of all settings, so you can do everything after. Sincerely, Mathias Beyer and let your experiences come here.

OK, 72 und Skalierung verwenden. Funktioniert sehr gut. In meinem Fall Breite 0.4 mm.

I use the machine tool sans serif often as well as machine tool Grenada. Another option is to go to http://www.onelinefonts.com/ and you can download other single line fonts, but unfortunately they arent free. You only have to buy them once though....
