Fabrication Support Rod Specifications in Revit

Fabrication Support Rod Specifications in Revit

I'd like to have the ability to drive/change the Support Rod Specifications per instance of support in a similar way we can override the rod diameter. The rod dia changes depending on the material of the pipe being supported and we can only have 1 Support Rod Specification per Fabrication hanger. Instead of having multiple hangers in the library just because of the Support Rod Specifications. Id also like to be able to set this via the API.

We are currently doing this with Ancillary kits.  We make several by Rod size and when in Revit click the Hanger rod and at the top change the default to one of the Ancillary Kits.  This is only achieved one Rod at at time so it would be nice to be able to apply via API for sure.  One other issue here is the Rod upper attachment size remains the initial size and then reports both which make the Upper Attachment count wrong.  So the current work around here is to leave the Standard Hanger Spec applied to the Trapeze hanger upper attachment off and then apply a default Ancillary kit in the ITM.  This will allow the proper upper attachment count being correct.

@gmurphy I believe you can change the ancillary kit via API. I have not used this but hoping to develop something soon.

I feel like we should be able to apply the rod diameter inside the support specifications.  These support specifications are applied to the service template for specific size ranges anyway.  So if there was a column that was added for the rod diameter, you could apply both to the service at the same time.  But I would also want the ability to override that rod diameter during the modeling process as well.
