Autodesk Resource: Using Fusion Team and Folder-Level Project in the Classroom

To help you implement Folder-Level Projects in your classes, I created a deck that introduces Fusion Teams and Folder-Level Projects (see the attached PDF). The deck covers:

The slide show mentions that educational users will only be able to create new projects in the "folder level" permissions style, however, it appears I am able to create a new project with any of the permissions types.

Also, I initially gave all of my students the viewer role at the top level of my project. Is there a way to revoke this so there is no permissions? I don't see any way to do that besides deleting the project and creating a new one.

 

UPDATE: I see that there is a way to remove role. thank you.

Hi @ryancousins 

With an Education account, in Fusion, you can only create a Folder-Level Project. In Fusion Team, you can create a Folder-Level Project and the legacy projects.

 

  1. For your second question, you can unassigned a role, see slide 33 in the PDF.
  2. In Fusion Team, make the Project active.
  3. Click on the Folder Permissions tab.
  4. Click on the top-left corner, select all check box to select all the members.
  5. On the lower-right corner click on Remove role.

If I create a folder called "Student Folders", and do not assign any permissions to this folder, and then create a sub-folder for each student and give each student editor rights to only their sub folder, should they be able to see all of the other student folders? I know they won't be able to see the contents of the folders but I was hoping they would only see their folder show up at all just to keep things cleaner on their end.

Hi @ryancousins 

Very good question. Sounds like you created the folder structure and assigned the roles correctly. You are also correct that the students will only be able to save to, and see the contents in the subfolders under the Students folder that they have the Editor role assigned to. The students will see their peers' folders but won't be able to see their contents. This is an item that the product team is looking into.
