Is there a option to import KICAD files into EAGLE

Please add the ability to import/export KiCad projects (Libraries & Modules etc.) into Eagle. There many open source projects that use KiCad due to it's low/no cost model. As such, there are many useful KiCad projects that would be useful to have access.

It would be a shame to have to resort to using KiCad for some of our development instead of Eagle...

Call me a cynic but that last statement tells me they don't have the technology to do it automatically, they just have people hand transcribing for minimum wage.

Its absolutely not a valid answer to just state you dont have information about that KiCad to Fusion 360 topic. 

As you guys can see - a lot of people want it. soooo please. iam begging you. Just DO IT.

I'm pretty shocked that this isn't a thing already. Major barrier to entry for people like me with a lot of custom libraries and certified designs made in KiCad. 

I even used buzz words, that's how serious this is!!

Another bump for this. It seems KiCad had an importer for Eagle files early on, and Eagle is not free software.

This hasn't been bumped in a while.  Would be  nice to have this in Fusion.  I have quite a few schematics in Kicad that I'd like to import into Fusion

Have any of you people voting for this actually tried to import any Eagle project into Kicad? It does a TERRIBLE job. If Eagle had something like that it would also do a terrible job. As well as each software having its own proprietary format, the reason companies don't allow random importing of their formatted files to/from random PCB/CAD programs is to lock you into their technology. That's why you'll see useless/generic/open formats like DXF or STEP but not conversion to/from their proprietary formats. They don't want you to use those other programs and you can't blame them for wanting to protect their investment. This is nothing new. All companies do the same..... they want you to use their product and only their product.

To guarantee the design is accurate, the smart way is to simply use both Kicad and Eagle running together on the same PC on 2 monitors and re-design the project in the other software, transferring it over manually. Then you know everything will be 100% correct and there won't be any mistakes except those you make yourself ^_^

Although I agree with your comments about vendor lock-in and other comments in general, KiCad is open source software. The source code to the entire product is freely available, so no vendor lock-in problem here!

I agree importing either way has its drawbacks.  Importing either way requires you to edit the schematic and verify and set the correct footprints to the components of the schematic.  I also agree that companies try to lock you into strictly using their software, but there are exceptions.  But what if your group utilized a software that you want to upgrade from?  Or that you have complex schematics?  Would you want to, or do you have the time to spend days or even months redrawing schematics?  I've used some schematic software that actually has an Eagle export ability.

I hope you're doing well, I've seen lots of EAGLE imports but never seen an export. I would be interested to see that. EAGLE's file format is text based and fully documented so making import and export functionality based on our file format is not hard, but for full interoperability you would need everyone to do the same thing otherwise you end up with one way workflows or useless generics as has been mentioned.

In these situations it's really the end users that lose, no one wants to spend the time redrawing schematics and libs. However if you want to fully transition from one tool to another this is really the best and most accurate way.

In Fusion, a BETA version of our new KiCAD importer is now available through the insider program in May release. Instructions on how to sign up for the insider program are here:
