Gerber problem with Board without Schematic

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to make two panels on Eagle in the Board mode. The problem came when I create the Gerber files for send to a pcb manufacturer using gerb274x.cam and excellon.cam CAM Process, but don't "cut" the holes and the edges of the board. What could be the problem?

I attach the .brd files here.

Thank you so much. Smiley Happy

Greetings.

Hello @Anonymous,

I hope you're doing well. Because you don't have any copper on these boards, the only real layer of interest is the outline gerber since it will contain the board outline as well as any internal cutouts. So you really only need to send them one file.

Please let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Best Regards,

Jorge Garcia

Hi Jorge, Smiley Happy

Thank you for your answer! I try everything, also to add a polygons of copper and real holes but when I try to see the gerber files on a gerber viewer they don't work Smiley Sad

Please, can you try with the .brd files I upload before if they work to you with the CAM process I said?

Thank you so much.

Hello @Anonymous,

I hope you're doing well. I just tried it and the files exported correctly, all of the information for these is on the Profile and Silkscreen Top files. I checked the gerber output in Excellon and everything looked good.

What gerber viewer are you using? How are you generating the CAM output, with the Cam processor or the one-click option?

Please let me know.

Best Regards,

Hello again @jorge_garcia, thank you for your help 🙂

I'm using two different gerber viewer and on this two don't make the cuts. Also I sent the gerber Files to the manufacture and he said the same problem, :

-  http://mayhewlabs.com/webGerber/  (ONLINE)

ZofzPCB: FREE 3D Gerber Viewer : https://www.zofzpcb.com (SOFTWARE)

And I´m generating the CAM output with the two Cam processors gerb274x.cam and excellon.cam

Can you please share your outputs Gerber files? I will thank you so much.

Regards.

Hello @Anonymous,

I hope you're doing well. I recommend using a desktop gerber viewer like Viewmate or GC-Prevue.

I have attached the files I generated from your board. The excellon file will be empty because you didn't use any drills, you drew all of the holes on the dimension layer so they would be milled from the board.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Best Regards,

Jorge Garcia

Hello @jorge_garcia

Thank you for sharing the files, was very helpful. I still have a little problem. The Excellon files need to be Drills, Holes or Milling Layers? And what layer should be for the square Holes? Because is the last problem I need to solve for the manufacture, the holes.

Thank you again for all.

Greetings.

Hi again @jorge_garcia  Smiley Happy

I try something new to have the drill/holes Gerber files using Fusion 360 and its new PCB feature. I export a DXF file from my Eagle board, and then create a new Sketch on Fusion 360 to create a PCB with it. Then I sent the board to Eagle and add the silkscreen layer. All great but, when I make the Gerber files again, the excellon file is still empty and the manufacturer can´t make the internal holes of the board.

I haven't got more ideas to solve this problem... What can I do?

Thank you so much for your time.

Regards.

Hi @Anonymous,

I hope you're doing well. Like I mentioned above, your design doesn't require an excellon file. You didn't use holes in your design, you drew all of the circular openings as circles and not drills.

If the gerbers are not enough then you have to replace all of the circles with holes.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.
