I have just installed Eagle 8.0.2 but it will not start, it just opens a blank window. I have read through the other related forum threads and none of the solutions or suggestions have made a difference.
Ransomeware aside (which is a HUGE problem), how can I justify $500 a year for a program that does not even work?
Eagle 8.0.2 (latest at time of post)
Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
6GB RAM
Intel Xeon W3520 (2.66GHz)
Radeon FirePro V5900
As per other threads:
I have updated my graphics drivers but it made no difference.
I have tried removing the space character in the installation path but it made no difference.
I have tried running as administrator but it made no difference.
I do not have AdAware or associated browser addons installed.
I am not able to test turning off my antivirus (webroot) because I do not have sufficient privileges from IT.
I AM behind some sort of corporate firewall/port filtering/proxy mechanism which was installed after a prior security breach / virus. I don't know the details exactly but I know some websites will not load if they require certain types of secure connection (if I go to reddit for example it loads a browser error NET::ERR_CERT_AUTHORITY_INVALID). I do not have a problem logging into the Autodesk website through my browser.
My workstation is part of a domain network.
How do you get this program working?

Hi
I have a mac and I just upgraded to the a years subscription. I get a blank screen at the place that is "suppose to say" Lets get started. I have a deadline too and cannot do 4 layer boards - What is the status of this problem
Dale
Hi Robledo
It seems that I tested the fact I cannot upgrade to a paid subscription - I have a blank screen where your suppose to enter the license info. Seems that when it comes to paid subscribers this would be high on the list - Is there a work around because I need to go to 4 layer and i can't
Dale
Did you try 8.1.0? It has worked every time I have opened it since I installed it. I was getting the blank screen previously with 8.0.2. I am using the free version but if you are a subscriber you should be able to login and see it for download.
Hi @ldalep,
I hope you're doing well. By any chance do you have Anti-virus software installed on the Mac? If you do, try disabling it temporarily and then try opening EAGLE does it run now?
If it doesn't there is one other thing we can try. Let's try to set the OpenGL environment variable so that EAGLE uses software rendering. Here's how you do this on the Mac:
Find the ~/.bash_profile file on your system.
Using your text editor of choice edit it and add the following line:
export QT_OPENGL = software
Save the file and then run EAGLE.
Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.
Best Regards,
Jorge Garcia

QUESTION is that different software which allows you to get to the screen to put in the serial number to unlock the subscribed version or is it the same as the free version but it is broke - because the free software is working it just gives me a blank screen as it races buy instead of allowing me to enter what needs to be.
Hi Dale,
There is no separate download for the paid for subscription and there is no entering of any serial numbers to unlock the subscription required. It's all done via your Autodesk login from within EAGLE.
What is supposed to happen is you log in with your Autodesk account when you start the software and it checks your entitlement with the server and unlocks the level for which you have a subscription. You might need to log out of your Autodesk account within EAGLE and back in to see the subscription but if all you are seeing is a white screen on startup then there is some other issue.
Have you tried v8.1.0 yet? There were a number of issues with v8.0.2 I believe and this issue may have been solved in the latest release.
Best Regards,
Rachael
I was finally able to install v8.1.0 and I can confirm that this version displays the login screen and I am able to sign in. It appears the glitch I was experiencing was resolved in this version.
You are right that the linked page does say "Legacy Software" but at the same time the title of the list also says "All versions of Autodesk Eagle Software". Lack of consistency.
Turns out that my problem was in the account end - Took 3 days and a lot of work at the autdesk end but they finally got it
Thanks to everyone that helped
Dale
Hi Kev
I just used the chat line that is available to anyone. I described my problem and that's how it got started
Dale
This is a joke, totally unprofessional, I'm afraid I'm going to have to uninstall and look elsewhere.
Have a nice day
Hi,
I've just downloaded Eagle 8.2.1 and came across the same issue as everyone has been seeing here.
I've seen this exact problem in many other software packages and it is to do with my Autodesk account and their online database.
Here's the problem: My name has an apostrophe in it!
I logged into my account on Autodesk's website, removed the apostrophe from O'Keeffe to OKeeffe.
When I tried to run Eagle again, it logged me in, brought me straight into the program and it worked perfectly.
I recommend anyone having this problem, log into the website, go to your account and remove any non standard ASCII letters.
-Mike O'Keeffe (without the apostrophe)
I'm experiencing this issue with v8.2.2 as well as 8.2.1. I've read through the whole thread and tried most of the suggestions. What's the solution here?
No firewall running. Some versions give me the login and then go to white screens, the newest version just goes straight to white screens...
And I've found a solution. I renamed the directory where all my projects were stored. (My Documents/Eagle) to something else (eagle1). This time, when I ran the software it complained about being unable to find the projects folder and asked to create a new one. I agreed. And the software launched fine. I then closed it, deleted the new folder called eagle and renamed my old projects folder back to eagle. Re ran the software and voila. No problems.
It was trying to open the last project I was working on when it would launch and white screen everything. Now it works fine again.
Yeah me. Hope this helps the next person.
Yeah. Thanks for reporting this trick.
As quick workaround you could use [`] instead of [']. Hope this issue will be fixed in nearest future.
This was my issue as well. I removed the apostrophe in my last name in my profile online, and I can now get past the sign on screen in Eagle.
Thanks!
