Eagle 8.0.2 Blank Screen on Load

I have just installed Eagle 8.0.2 but it will not start, it just opens a blank window. I have read through the other related forum threads and none of the solutions or suggestions have made a difference.

Ransomeware aside (which is a HUGE problem), how can I justify $500 a year for a program that does not even work?

Eagle 8.0.2 (latest at time of post)

Windows 7 Professional 64-bit

6GB RAM

Intel Xeon W3520 (2.66GHz)

Radeon FirePro V5900

As per other threads:

I have updated my graphics drivers but it made no difference.

I have tried removing the space character in the installation path but it made no difference.

I have tried running as administrator but it made no difference.

I do not have AdAware or associated browser addons installed.

I am not able to test turning off my antivirus (webroot) because I do not have sufficient privileges from IT.

I AM behind some sort of corporate firewall/port filtering/proxy mechanism which was installed after a prior security breach / virus. I don't know the details exactly but I know some websites will not load if they require certain types of secure connection (if I go to reddit for example it loads a browser error NET::ERR_CERT_AUTHORITY_INVALID). I do not have a problem logging into the Autodesk website through my browser.

My workstation is part of a domain network.

How do you get this program working?

Hi Everyone,

Here's a few points to check, please confirm your situation as soon as is convenient for you.

1) Completely uninstall EAGLE and reinstall EAGLE 8.0.2, login does it work now?

2) Did any of you guys upgrade your subscription? For example, you started with a standard and then upgraded to Premium?

These points are vital to getting to the bottom of this. It's likely that some of you have already tried uninstalling and then reinstalling but I need to confirm.

For those that want an 8.0.1 download, I have copied it to my dropbox and here is the link:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/gejwx6e1l49fccr/Autodesk_EAGLE_8.0.1_English_Win_64bit.exe?dl=0

Please let me know how these work for you.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you guys.

1. Tried that, no it didn't work

2. No, no updates to subscription

8.0.1 installed and works fine

8.0.2 won't progress to the login screen. Eagle logo screen comes up then next window (which should be login screen) is a blank white screen

I uninstalled 8.0.2 and installed 8.0.1 and it loaded, I was able to login and open an example project.

I also noticed it ran poorly compared to previous (pre-Autodesk) versions of Eagle. It was slow, and glitchy, when I selected to place a via and moved my mouse across the screen it left hunbdreds of artifacts - but I guess that is a complaint for a different thread.

The point is, 8.0.2 does not work.

8.0.1 does work.

Therefore, my corporate firewall does not seem to be blocking the program unless you threw in some naughty stuff in version 8.0.2

Seems like a bug / bad release to me.

I also have what seems to be the same problem. I bought a Premium subscription today (a new subscription, not an upgrade from an old one) and installed Eagle 8.0.2 with no problems. When I launch it I get the initial splash screen saying "opening internet connection" then I get the blank white window and it hangs there. I've tried disabling firewalls and antivirus, I've uninstalled and reinstalled but nothing has made a difference. I'm running Windows 10 and have a Firepro W2100 graphics adaptor with the latest driver.

Hello Everyone,

The devs have a proposed fixed, but to be sure they would like one of you guys to test it. We will provide the executable and the devs would like to do a screensharing session to go through the implementation.

Please PM me at your earliest convenience to set this up. I know several of you have 8.0.1 working however EAGLE can't continue to improve unless this bug is solved so if you have some time please let me know. This an open request to everyone.

I have the same problem here - upgraded 8.0.0 standard version to 8.0.2 and now I have a blank screen on start up - 8.0.0 remains installed and still works.

I have 8.0.1 currently installed and it works in free mode but not in the subscribed standard version.

I get the blank screen whenever I login with a standard account!!

Is 8.0.0 available for download anywhere?

HI osullivandonogh,

Sorry for any inconvenience your experiencing, we hope to solve this as soon a possible.  According to your post, as long as your in Free Mode EAGLE 8.0.1 works just fine, but when you attempt to login using your Autodesk Credentials you get a blank screen?  Is this correct?

Last night we did have a miscommunication issue with our server by which the developer have been able to fix and are making the appropriate modification for it not to happen again. I wonder if this server inconvenience is the one affecting your access to EAGLE.

Can you please try again and let me know if you still get a blank screen?

Best Regards,

Ed

Hi Ed,

The problem still persists. Even with the Anti virus and firewall turned
off.

Can you send me a link so that I can download 8.0.0 and see if that works.

I upgraded so that I could get a layout finished and this issue is causing
great difficulty in the project timelines. I just need a solution that will
allow me to move on.

Regards,
Donogh

This issue is also happening on the Mac version as well. I tried the Windows version first, had no luck so tried the Mac version with the same issue.

Has been a while already, but just found this thread. I see the same problem in my computer with 8.0.2. Interestingly I have installed also 7.6.0 that works fine, but with the same blank screen followed from a splash (That I presume is the log window people talks about?) once I close that window with the X (that is the only visible) I can see the Control Panel underneath for Eagle 7.6.0 Light (I am educational user)

Version 8.0.2 new Autodesk splash followed of similar blank screen with the same X (and window control on the top) , but once you close it, Eagle is closed no Control Panel or anything underneath.

Any progress in this?

For most of us it seems that v8.0.2 is defective and installing v8.0.1 works. I worked with the staff to test a patched version but it needs to be tested more before release. Try uninstalling v8.0.2 and go back to v8.0.1. I think you can get old versions here: http://eagle.autodesk.com/eagle/software-versions

Hi Nicholas54,

I am really sorry that you are running into this trouble, we apologize for the inconvenience.  I was trying to follow the thread, but I couldn't find if you tested Autodesk EAGLE 8.1.0, which was release last week.

Best Regards,

Ed

I was having the same issue with 8.0.2 with a raedon card but 8.1.0 is not having the issue.  Thank you

I have not tested v8.1.0 because I was unaware that it was released. I am still using the beta update I was provided and have been waiting for a post back here that it had been released - or rolled into a newer release. This is the first I have heard of that.

I did see a notice about an updated version being available for download - but that update popup seemed to arrive within a day of my trying the beta version and it does not specify a version number of the update - only the version number I am currently using so I had assumed the popup was trying to update me to the non functioning v8.0.2 which was at the time (to my knowledge) the highest released version.

I was curious though so I actually checked to see if there was a newer version than v8.0.2 available and according to this page (even today) there is not: http://eagle.autodesk.com/eagle/software-versions

It is frustrating as a user to now find out that there might be a version 8.1.0 available for a while but there was no reasonable way for me to know. You have a dedicated page to listing software versions available for download - but that page is not itself accurately updated.

You should also strongly consider putting the new software release version in your pop up notification dialog so users can see what the update is before they install it. It is not uncommon at all for a user to avoid a specific update from time to time for reasons such as this.

The page you linked is the legacy versions.  The current version 8.1.0 is on the main download page http://www.autodesk.com/products/eagle/free-download.  I agree that in the past with Eagle it was a list of all versions not just legacy and either we need to adjust to it or Autodesk could make it "like it was" and add the current version at the top.  It definitely seems that Autodesk is trying to make the software the best they can with the number of new verisons they have put out lately hopefully things will stable out and it will be a little less frequent though.  I use some other Autodesk software (Inventor and AutoCad) and would like it if they added Eagle to the Desktop App so I can know when updates are available and be able to do those updates a little easier.
