Can't activate eagle

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hi,

I used eagle free version for a while till I realized its limitations regarding the board size. I bought the subscription for a month to use eagle standard edition. I received the email with the serial number after 40 minutes. However, after a day I still do not see Eagle being listed in my Products and Services. So far I have lost one day out of a month subscription. I tried to search in autodesk website to find out how I can activate my eagle to no avail.

Please let me know how I can activate my subscription. Also, It is only fair to start the subscription after the activation.

Regards,

Abtin

Email with a serial number? That doesn't sound right for EAGLE v8 as it's all done over the internet by logging into your Autodesk account. Go to the EAGLE control panel and choose sign out from one of the menus and then sign back in again. This should force it to re-check your entitlement from the Autodesk servers and should enable your subscription license.

Hi Rachael,

Thanks for your reply. I logged out and backed in but get the same result. Please also note that I don’t see eagle listed in my Product and Services on autodesk website. See images below:

Here is the email that I received.

Here is the screen of Eagle 8.2.1 after re-login.

Hi @Anonymous,

Welcome to the Community.

There was a sync issue that occurred in the order, which we've already fixed just now. You should now be able to view and access your EAGLE Standard subscription from your Autodesk Account. Kindly try to log back in to your account to verify the updates made.

I hope this helps, let us know how it goes. Thank you.

Fantastic! Can you spend 5 minutes into looking what is the problem with Farnell being unable to deliver Eagle licenses?

Hello !

I'm facing exactly the same problem as @Anonymous! My license was bought on may 30th and i've got no clue how to activate my product, although I did receive an email with a serial number and product key (from autodesk).

It does sounds like a problem between Farnell and Autodesk, but as a user, if I can buy a license, it should be way easier to activate it. We're losing precious days of work, and that's not a good news.

I already contacted the support but i'm still waiting for an answer, so i'm knocking at this door... Who knows? 🙂

Have a nice day

Hi there, friend! My order for Eagle sits with farnell since 12th of may, so I'm finding workarounds to proceed in my design... hard, but manageable so far.

Well, since Eagle 8 is entirely login-based user verification, all you need is NAME and PASSWORD for Autodesk login, so if Farnell sends you serial number, they REALLY may be retarded, I think I told them in the 15th of may or so that the new accounts work entirely as a login.

All you need to do is to "Log out" under the project window, then log in with your Autodesk Account that has the eagle license. And that should be it.

Farnell is now known over the years to be SERIOUSLY understaffed of people responsible for any kind of decision making and customer support, maybe the person responsible for the Eagle management and such has been fired a year ago, nobody knows.

Try this trick: go to your farnell, click on the specific eagle you have ordered, then click on "See stock and delivery dates", what does it say? Mine says 5th of June.

Anyway, I agree with you, this is retarded.

Hello Arnaud,

I've reached out to the appropriate teams. Lets see what's going on. As ADresden already mentioned all you need to use EAGLE V8 is to have an Autodesk account setup. Once the order is properly processed your Autodesk Account will get an EAGLE entitlement and you should be able to work just fine.

Please let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Thank you! Thanks to you, everything is know working.

the main problem — and what makes it so difficult to work out — is that the license was associated with the email address, en therefore account, used on Farnell. But in my case, the Farnell account belongs to the purchase manager, and not to me as a developer.

So I had to ask to my purchase manager to give me access to the license I asked him to bought. That's kind of weird but hopefully, as I said, everything is now working.

The solution would then be, for the renewal of the license or when buying a new one, to buy it directly from one of our developer address, but that's not exactly how we where expecting it to work.

That being said, we're maybe too complicated. Let's say that's the European charm 🙂

Thanks again for your helpful time,

Have a nice day,

On our Farnell account, they just say that it was to be delivered by a third party. The next day we received the mentioned email from Autodesk, which was, I guess, the "3d party delivery".

Sounds weird that they told you you'll get it on the 5th, since there's no real "stock".

All the same : the whole thing was weird.

I hope you'll get quickly a real solution!

You are not complicated, just the farnell-autodesk setup is suboptimal, they are working on wrong assumptions, trying to push users closer to total control, forgetting that even in a small company the purchasing department and engineering departments work as separate entities.

This e-mail login system is open to abuse.

Tying product usage to an e-mail is a form of totalitarian control, different forms practiced before by nazi germany, communist block, even today in china. And because all your personal details are connected to that e-mail in government and many private databases, danger that poses is clear. Get access to that database, hack Adobe (or Autodesk) and you exactly know the address, birth date, credit card numbers, social security number of someone working on a project of your interest, when the project names are stored in the cloud. I have seen such database in action, and basically, getting from a screen name to e-mail, full name, address, phone numbers, credit cards numbers was less than 5 minutes. One of the companies collecting such data is Microsoft, I've seen them do it via a subsidiary in the late 1990's. The computer and user data you have put in the windows install? I think they downloaded it: They knew pretty much every Windows pirate copy user by name, companies, people, addresses, everything, again, the people bragged about it and shown the data privately.

How did you think the chinese (and not only) hackers do it? They have a legal mandate to acquire foreign designs, technology, etc. And again, they are not the only country with people whose job is exactly that. Autodesk (or Adobe) is just making it so much easier for them.

Where I live, the telecom companies are selling data of the customers to advertising and marketing agencies for targeted action. For example: you don't use the phone much, but suddenly you receive a call from a very rich country. Within 2 days you will receive three special marketing offers you've never seen before, after years of none. Similar triggers exist for travel and making calls from abroad, which brings me the joy of repeated identical offers.

The "european charm" as you have called it, is just a logical separation of responsibilities that prevents concentration of power and vulnerabilities. It is only a matter of time when the Adobe moment of truth comes for Autodesk, seeing their push for Amazon Cloud services. It is only a matter of time. Using a logical fallacy of "because important government agencies use our software and services means we won't get hacked" is an empty promise, if you build in the vulnerabilities.

The internet (domain name system most likely) will get broken one day, disaster strikes the login servers, and you won't be even able to run the Eagle software in viewer mode. Murphy law says that if it CAN happen, it WILL happen.

Ah, hello there, yes I mailed them. They mailed them. They got the same e-mails.

e-mail one: "very soon" or "24 hours"
e-mail two: "we are working on it"

But seeing that e-mail is necessary, Farnell may well have a problem there, as I said before: I could not login to orginal account, it said it does not exist, so I tried to create it and it said 'that account is taken'. So I had to make a new one, while struggling with nonsensical, arbitrary limitations to even basic data like address, password length, etc.

But worst: nobody tells me what the actual problem might be!

"Authentication Failed. Authentication Ticket Mismatched, failed authentication. ", seeing that for the 30th time today! Let's celebrate!

If it's not showing in your product list then your order hasn't gone through properly and something needs sorting at the Autodesk end. Your best bet is probably to email eaglesales@autodesk.com and explain the situation.

Same problem here with v9.2.2 (with the exception of no email received).

I paid this an hour ago and it's still processing. Why this isn't AUTOMATED yet?

Hi @Anonymous,

I hope you're doing well. It actually is automated, in some cases I've seen it take a few hours to process most of the time it's near instant. It should be available by now, please let me know if it isn't.

If it is available, make sure to sign out of EAGLE and then sign in again to make sure the subscription cache refreshes and you get your license entitlement.

Hello,

I purchased a years ful subscription for EAGLE and I lost both of my computers that ran the software.  I bought two new machines and installed Eagle, but it no longer appears in my Account so I have no way of activating the new installs and as such the software is in the Free trial mode.

How do I see my subscription in my Autodesk account so I can get this resolved?  THis is very frustrating

Hi @Anonymous,

Go to manage.autodesk.com and log in. You'll be able to see what products you have entitlements for. Let me know if you see EAGLE there. If you do then in EAGLE you want to login with that same account and EAGLE should see the entitlement.

When did you order your subscription?

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

I am facing the same problem. I bought the subscription on 15th April and still, I am not able to access the standard version. Kindly look into this. I am using it for my work and as it is getting delayed, it is costing me. Even after generating tickets, no proper response was received. There is no contact number to directly report the problem. Please do something ASAP.
