3D representation of an inductor

Hi,

From the 1st of January 2021,

I will need to use a tool dedicated to PCB for which I should

be able to create a schematic including passive (R,L,C) and

discrete active (OPA, OTA, diodes, etc...) components.

And I have heard about EAGLE.

My question is : I would like to know if it is possible to get

a 3D representation for inductors.

In fact, once you have defined wire material, wire cross-

section area, windings number, winding cross-section area,

windings ferro magnetic material included in inductor, inductor

length, is it possible to modelise this inductor ??

Also, we need to take in count every parameter around this inductor :

distance to ground or other potential, coupling (mitual inductance)

to another inductance, extraction of series resistance of inductor,

and ability to inject parasitics like electro magnetic pulse around

this inductor.

Thank you for your answers.

Hello @Anonymous,

I hope this message finds you well. Using Fusion360 you could model the inductor's 3D geometry completely and there is a built-in SPICE simulator which you could use to do some initial signal integrity simulation. However, if you need to more advanced EMI simulation you'll need to export the models in a format suitable for a field solver since we currently don't have any features that can do that kind of simulation.

Hope this is helpful.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.
