Issues adding and editing to schematic/Board

Let me start by saying I am new in to circuit design hobby and I find Eagle to be the most user friendly EDA software. I had all my DXF files upload and all my grid dimensions set. When I started adding components suddenly my progress was halted by every action I made being met with the error chime with no accompanying error message. I expect to be limited to my abilities since I am using free trial but the abrupt stop seems odd, which leads me to believe that maybe I unknowingly toggled some setting on. Sometimes I can rarely make a selection and even if I mange to each action I take is met by that chime. No matter the amount of digging I do, I cant seem to find a solution or a problem that even mirrors my own. I plan to upgrade but I fear that if I do I'll be met with the same problem and be paying $60 to do so.

Hi @Anonymous,

Just taking a guess here but it seems that you are not selecting the components correctly. In EAGLE, every component has a handle and can only be manipulated by that handle. In other words, look near the center of your components, you should see a little plus sign, that is where you have to click in order to select a component and perform any actions on it.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Best Regards,
