Connection between EAGLE and FUSION360 sometimes lost

Hi there

I work with the newest Version of EAGLE (9.6) to create my boards. After that I transfer the 3D Data to FUSION by activating the FUSION360 Tab at the right to PUSH to FUSION360. this works fine but now I found myself disconnected from the FUSION360 model in EAGLE altough yesterday at end of work the connection was working really fine. Now I have the create a new link or pull from FUSION which ist not what I want. If I have nothing changed in FUSION there should not be a need the recreate a existing link and PULL the design from FUSION360.

I think the link should not be lost.

PS: At the moment this is not a problem because the FUSION part is not used in assemblies. but then one might run into problems.

I opened my .BRD file that is not able to relink but did not find a "fusionsync" entry.

Then I opened one of the files I have worked on a while ago that was linked to FUSION but had not been touched by the newer version of EAGLE and found the fusionsync entry.

Now it works quite better. I will test this workaround in the next few days. I don't use the pull function, therefor I can't say about it. Thanks for the fast response!

Do you have any idea about the issue 3D rendering?

Did you save the file after sync to Fusion?

If the file was not saved locally after the sync, the link will also be lost.

Otherwise could you directly send me your BRD file for us to have a quick check?

Hi @tim.rettmann ,

It is not possible anymore to render a PCB with silkscreen / canvas.

Could you illustrate more on your workflow for this? It should be using canvas as default for Fusion sync.

My work flow:

1. Create an eagle project, incl. schematic and board file

2. Create a new fusion link / project and push all files (more than 95% of the libraries are managed)

3. Open it with fusion and go to render.

As shown in the picture, the piggy back board (black) ist rendered and the red PCB not. The silkscreen and stop mask are missing. One day before, the piggy back board have shown the same issue. Yesterday, I loosed all components in the 3D file of the piggy back board and then I generate a new fusion link / project. Than I have to place manually all three piggy back board again and remove the buggy revision.

With default or changed solder mask color, I cannot reproduce this issue.

Did you modify the solder mask color from the CAM preview tab?

Does it happen to all of the files or just a certain file?

Hi,

I changed the PCB color only over the manufacturing tab. It looks like I'm getting this problem at higher revision levels, e.g. 20 or less.

I have seen this issue for different PCBs.

Hi there.

during weekend I tried out some tasks but now it seemed that something has happend (was changed) because now I am able again to reconnect to existing fusion designs and also I only have to pull one or two times. Not perfect but much better. what I see is that I get holes and drills after pulling with an additional 0 width dimension circle which draws a filled yellow (in my case) circle at the position of the holes. another weird put not really problematic behaviour.

I can now give you snippets of the .BRD file which was able to be restored but after a few hours again did not get the link to fusion.

After saving the .BRD file (hence all) the snippet looks like this

as you can see. the fusionlink tag has fanished. Although the link was there and working a few hours ago.

After this I am not able to relink to the existing design. Why I do not know.

So I close EAGLE. After ropening the project I was asked to relink to the existing design. Were able to PULL und PUSH again and the link to FUSION was Ok again.

snippet was like below. fusionlink here again.

Now I am able to work until next EAGLE close or computer shutdown.

Yes. No real problem. You mean always resetting the link to the existing FUSION design. OK. I can do that. Waiting still for solved version of EAGLE/FUSION

Today I received the new update of FUSION360. Now nothing is working anymore. The links between EAGLE and FUSION are invalid and after PULL und PUSH I can not even download the design file. Horrible by the best. What happend?

I'm still running into this issue as well.

I started with a new design in F360 as a sketch. Created a 3D Board and pushed to Eagle. Added some components to the board and pushed back to Fusion and pulled back to Eagle. Changed the board outline in Fusion, Pushed and pulled again. Added some more components, went to push the and the link was lost, and had to create a new link to F360.

It seems like the adding of components is causing the link to fail in my case, looking back, this may have been what was happening with earlier designs.

Seems like this is a different issue.

Could you describe your detailed workflow, e.g. what was changed in Fusion, etc?

I could not reproduce this issue by simply pushing to Fusion then move a component in Fusion then pull and push in EAGLE.

Hi

I describe my workflow. First I construct my board in EAGLE and then PUSH to FUSION360. This normally works fine but sometimes the link to FUSION is broken on next day. than I normally PULL and PUSH and the problem is solved. But not always. As I use the FUSION model in an assembly and the link is deadly broken. meaning no connection possible anymore than I run into troubles because I can not delete the model because it is in the assembly an I am not allowed the delete a file used in an assembly.

this is horrible behaviour and I really think of switching to another layout program were the connecition between electronic design and 3D handling is solved.

I would be really sorry because I am with EAGLE since the beginning but now it is to much frustrating. I use more tome to resolve the internal program issues than I have time to word on my design. and my students see me struggling. that is more frustrating than ever.
