STRETCH IN X AND Y DIRECTON FROM ONE PARAMETER

Is it possible to stretch in 2 different directions using one parameter?

ie.  top view depth (y) would be the side vie width (x).

Thank you for any help you can give

Yes, that is easily possible.  You can add as many stretch actions as you like to a single parameter.  You can stretch each stretch action in any direction you like using the stretch action's angle offset property.  Post your block if you want a step-by-step screencast.

There is no need for any of the parameters to be chained.  When adding a stretch action to a linear parameter it will prompt you to select which point is associated with the action.  The action will be activated when that associated point is moved.  You had all of your actions associated with the linear parameter's base point (which did not even have a grip) so none of the actions were ever activated regardless of how you altered the linear parameter.  You can see which point is associated with an action by turning on both grips and then selecting the action.  The associated grip will be highlighted.  You also need to change the angle offset on a couple actions so they stretch the correct direction.  See screencast.
