Smart titleblocks with attributes

Hi! I'm working on a dynamic title block. I have fields for certain information and attributes. I really like how easy it is to fill in information through the Properties panel when using Attributes.

However, there are some attributes that are the same throughout the whole project, and thereof across all layouts, such as the Project Name or the Address. I'd like to keep the possibility of filling in the Attributes from the Properties palette, but have them stay synchronised across all the instances of title blocks. That way I can change the Layout Name but not change the Project Name in all of the Layouts.

Is this possible? I've never asked this much from a block!

Hi and Welcome to AutoCAD Forum,

@ana_blasco_paredes

Usually, we put and gather all common information (Project Name or the Address) with the title sheet and insert them later as an xref. All other information's now are collected in one block and insert inside title sheet to start modifying attributes as needed.

Two blocks.  One is xreffed in with all the project data that is the same throughout.

A second block is inserted into each layout with all the sheet specific data.

The second block has attributes that are preloaded with the appropriate fields.

I've found that the quickest way to edit an attribute is to hold down the CTRL key a double click it.  It will then edit in place just as if it were a piece of text.

Perhaps this can help. My free TextApps comes with a DDAttMod command that can toggle a Block Attribute from being editable to non editable (Constant). So after filling the value of the Attribute, you can then toggle Constant on and it will stay non-editable till you want to make a change again.

You should look into using the Sheet Set Manager (honestly surprised no one else mentioned it)

Attached is my tutorial that I wrote for my company which may offer guidance

I just started using DWGPROP and text fields for such information.

Bonjour,

Attributes in dynamic blocks can be moved with dynamic actions.  In the properties of the attribute you just need to set the "Lock Location" to Yes.    (Yes I know it seems like the wrong thing to do, lock it so you can move it, but that's how it works)
