Multi Arrow Visibility Block

Looking for help with understanding Visibility blocks but I can't seem to find anything very basic for a starting point. Something as simple as a Fully hatched circle where I can click on something on the block and adjust whether I want an arrow coming off of it on Top/Bottom/Left/Right or no arrow at all and just a hatched circle. I locate a lot of Fire Hydrants and sometimes when it's too far off the page we locate them using a symbol we have with an arrow and how many feet away they are.

Any help is much appreciated.

A wild idea I had and wasn't sure if its possible, so figured i'd ask. is there any sort of field where you can place a dimension and that value on the dimension can be shown in a block? Idea would be if a fire hydrant is placed so far away from a building, I have to place the block, go into dimension to figure how far away it is then go back into the block to add the value. ideally if I could place a block, then it takes me into dimension command to dimension distance it would auto add the distance to the block? maybe that's some Autolisp I would need to look into?

I just added an aligned dimension to the block. Added a polar stretch, and added the dimension to the polar stretch. I then edited the dim properties so only the number would show.

Now if you just use the polar stretch you will see the number change in real time

You can accomplish the same thing but I would choose a different approach.  Rather than a dimension I would probably use a polar parameter and a circle or some such linework for the placement at the actual location.  I would then use a blockplaceholder field referencing the polar parameter.  Let me know if you need a screencast.

hwalker posted while I was typing.  That approach is very similar to what I was thinking.  This shows what I was thinking but requires a regen to update the value.
