find and replace does not affect block definition ob dynamic block

I have a dynamic block reference in my modelspace. This block reference contains an Mtext. Using find and replace to change the text works with no problem.

Inserting the block definition of this block reference by "Insert" inserts the block with the old text.

I know that the dynamic block reference get's a new block name (e.g. *U72) after changing the dynamics.

But in my case I have a block reference (*U72) containing text A and an other block reference (block name = effective name) with Text B sharing the same block definition.

How is this possible?

And how can I use the find command and affect the block definition?

When opening the F&R dialog box you need to expand your finding search options, and then check the "block attribute value".  See the image below.

Hello dhansen,

thanks for the idea, but this option does not change the behavior.

It's better to change your block so that your Mtext becomes an attribute. Attributes are made to change inside blocks, mtext is not.

It's not about a specific problem.

I just noticed that the function does not work the way I expected.

Also I did not know that it's possible to have multiple versions of the same block definition.

Is it the attribute text on the inside of block?  Is that text style actually "mtext" or just single line text?

Just wondering if you ran "attsync" on the block?  Sounds like some updates or mod's were done? Old version vs. new?

Just an MTEXT. No Attribut Definitions at all.
