DYNAMIC STRETCH PARAMETER NOT WORKING IN PROPERTIES

The dynamic stretch parameter is not working for some of my blocks.  Sometimes I can get is to work other times I cannot.

I am wondering if something is wrong with my setup.  I want to be able to stretch the block with the dimension using the properties window.

The block will stretch fine manually, but as soon as I stretch it with the properties window it stretches the distance like it's suppose to.

However, it doesn't stretch the objects. I have attached one of the problematic blocks in question.

Thanks,

You haven't provided enough information so I'll just assume you want the block to only stretch downwards and go from there. The linear stretch startpoint should be located at the top and a single grip at the bottom.

Look closely at your block and you should see a little yellow box with the exclamation point in it - that is a clue you have a problem. You have 2 grips and only one action assigned and it is assigned to the startpoint which works to manual drag with the cursor but not when entering to the Properties palette.

Take a look at the attached revised block - note the changes allow manually entering the distance in the properties window and a manually drag of the grip in the same direction.  I'll leave it up to you to figure out changes needed for the hatch and line work.

Thank you Washington. I only need it to stretch down of back up so yes only one parameter on the bottom is required.

I saw the exclamation point and knew there was probably something wrong there.

One thing though how do you only pick one side to stretch on the parameter?  I guess I would have to use linear stretch under parameter sets correct?

I usually pick linear under parameters and never knew it mattered if I picked two sides.

Thanks,

Might I suggest spending some time working through some dynamic block tutorials or dissecting posted dynamic blocks?  You should spend time learning how the tools work before creating content - you will save yourself some big headaches in the long run.

By looking at your geometry, I think you will have problem with the sloped section of the slab when stretching. It will be skewed and not maintaining the correct thickness. You may need to introduce Dynamic constraints for such conditions.
