Is it only 2, 3 or 4?

If it is I would use visibility states and if the rectangle needs to stretch I would use move actions with multipliers on the circles to keep them equidistant

Create an axis line
Create an array on a path using AutoCAD
Set it to Split
In the Parameter Manager, create a new parameter named "Count" and enter 2 as the value.
Select the array and enter "Count" for Elements.
Select the auxiliary axis and convert it using Manage Construction.
Exit the Block Editor by clicking Save.

In the properties window you can now change the number
