Dynamic Block Stretch Issue with 3D Solid (Drawing Attached)

Hi everyone,

I am creating a dynamic block containing a 3D solid (extrusion). I need the block to stretch equally from both sides while keeping the centerline fixed, as shown in the attached image.

However, the Stretch Action does not seem to work on the 3D Solid. Is the issue a limitation of dynamic blocks with 3D solids, or is there a recommended workflow to achieve symmetric stretching of a 3D solid within a dynamic block?

I have attached the drawing for reference.

Yes. Dynamic blocks are intended exclusively for use in 2D.

In rare and simple cases, you can “cheat” a little with surfaces, but I don't think that's what you're looking for.

Hi ishaq03,

To my knowledge you can't stretch a 3d solid using dynamic block grips, I exploded your solid into two regions for the left and right faces and then lofted an associative surface between them.  The linear grip drives the movement of the left and right faces, and the surface dynamically fills the gap.  If you need to make a 3d solid you can explode the block and use the SURFSCULPT command.  See attached for modified block.

@ishaq03

Above you asked for a solution explicitely for managing a 3DSolid block.

In my answer (post #2) I mentioned that a solution for surfaces may possible.

Now I see, using a surface model is also acceptable for you. So I offer an addittional suggestion. Here you can free choose any length, width and height (the last only via the properties panel).
