Dynamic block - how to hide portion

I have a dynamic CMU block.  It has multiple widths, color options, and it arrays while letting you adjust the depth of the top block.  My issue is that this block limits me to 2 blocks in height and I have to explode or redefine the block in order to use a single block.  Is there a way to "easily" hide the top block when not needed?  I could create another visibility state for each block option but thought there might be a better way.

I think that gets what I need.  When I get time, I will deconstruct it and see if I can recreate your block.  I am still new to the double lookups - I have made a few blocks using tips from Libbya but it's still foreign to me.

I was able to recreate your block and it seems to make sense how you did it.  My only question is how did you make the dashed line that you use for the flip action?  I just made a line and made in invisible for all visibility states and accomplished the same effect, but I can't figure out what you did.  Properties just list it as a plain line and yet it doesn't show when you close the block editor.

This is construction line.

If you watch in ribbon in block editor mode you can find button Construction. You can switch "normal" line to construction line and this line you can see only in block editor mode. And in that block I need it to show Flip grip because it can be seen only if you flipped some object.
