Dimensions in dynamic block are rotated upside down

I have a dynamic block that calculates the length of a light swag.
It is rotatable to be able to match architectural pick points.
Part of that block are dimensions that show the straight run length.
If I set the dimension style to not align the text, the dimensions overlap each other at specific rotations.
If I set the style to align the text, when I set the block to be vertical, the text is upside down.
The dimensions should always read this way:
But when rotated vertically, it is upside down.
(It is correct when rotated the other direction, but that is because it is the same as shown)
And for the record, it is correct when at an angle:
I do have 'custom' text formating to reflect the dimension text formating the way I want it.
Also, note that the stacked dimension will not rotate the way I want either, but I can live with that.
(It should be horizontal in the top image, but when it is set to aligned, there is no way to turn it 90 / -90.
It will go 180 & 270, but not the other way.)
I have tried multiple dimension style settings, but can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.
The Dimension is selected as part of the dynamic rotate parameter.
I'd rather not post the block, but I could post a stripped down version if there is not an answer.
Thanks.
Sepp.
