Block shows as different scale but inserts correctly

Hope someone can help me with this issue, so I'll try to be clear;

For years, I've had a pallette of 30 or so blocks

All insert fine at the correct scale and the 'preview' when you click a block is fine

Recently, 2 of these blocks appear much larger when clicked on the toolpallette but still insert at the correct scale (so the scale settings are ok).

Obviously this visual appearance is annoying with appearing to insert much larger, but only for 2 of my dynamic blocks

Can someone advise? If i redefine the block first, it's fine. But I don't want to have to do this every time I start a new drawing.

*Update*:

I've noticed the 2 blocks in question are set to inches in the units. I've gone to the source file but it shows correctly as mm.

If I insert the block and check the properties....it's shown as inches, even though the source file shows mm. I'm confused - can someone help?

At the command line type INSUNITS. What are they? Change them to millimeters. Personally I have mine set to UNITLESS

Hi, thanks - I'd already changed these to mm unfortunately.

Weirdly enough all units are set to mm APART from when the block is inserted then selected.... please see attached

All dwg units are mm in all settings. I honestly don't know how to change this!

Can you post a drawing with one block with the correct settings and the block that inserts at the wrong scale

It does insert at the correct scale - it's purely when the block is selected from the pallette, the visual is larger, then when clicked and placed onto the modelspace, the scale is fine

Also, if I redefine the block, everything is then correct and the visual is back to the correct scale (still inserts correct) and when highlighted the block units are now mm. But I don't want to have to redefine every time I open a drawing

Ok that sounds like there is already a block in your drawing with that name. Check the block in the drawing itself and see what the units are for that block.

This is odd thing - the units are fine in the drawing. It's literally only when the block is placed in a new drawing, and only these 2 blocks. No other blocks of that name as they're all called something different.

Attached is the dwg of one of the problem blocks. Not sure if you can see the issues from this alone, but feel free to! It's incredibly annoying!

I just opened your drawing and opened up the block in the block editor (I did nothing else) and as you can see from the image below the units of the block are set as inches, change them to millimeters, don't forget to save the changes and also recreate the tool palette icon by selecting the new block and dragging it onto the tool palette

here's the kicker....I've done that! It's like it won't save. It changes, saves, shows correct in the drawing, then if I start a new one it goes back to inches!

Ok do a quick select and find all instances of the block in your drawing and delete them.

Then do a PURGE to get rid of the block from the drawing completely.

Copy the drawing I've attached and then try reinserting the block from that drawing.

I've changed the units to millimeters and already drag and dropped it into a blank drawing and it stayed as millimeters

Followed that exactly, shows as mm in the drawing it's from, but in a new drawing still shows as inches! Sorry 😞

Can you post a picture of the settings for your new drawing, without any objects in it at all (just a blank drawing)

Drawing units to start with.

At the command line type UNITS and post a screenshot of the dialog box.

Also at the command line again type DWGUNITS. What are the units set to there?
