Sorry, I should have clarified. You dont need revit, that is just the program they were discussing. my point was the other part.
"The error msg is deu to Windows 10 & .Net Frameworks 4.6 it's not (up till now) communicating properly with many software including Revit...there are no known and or confirmed fixes for this bug.
You need to continue visit windows update and check for new patches/SP/updates to install... You might also want to check for C++ Visual with Microsoft cuz are manual patches not auto updates.
What you referred to as a workaround is the right way to do it ... Opening files from window explore is a Windows functionality which seem to be bugged in Windows 10 "
