DWF Toolkit - current?

Looking at a potential project with the DWF Toolkit, a quick read on ADN says:

• This version of the toolkit handles DWF files generated by AutoCAD 2008(when released) and other Autodesk design software.

Not sure if AutoCAD 2008 has been released yet but apparently this version will handle it (when released).

I'm curious about 7.7 which seems to be the latest, will it handle anything from the current decade?  Like 2017 for instance.

Is this API actively developed?
