X-clip functionality for data references

X-clip functionality for data references

If you data reference pipe/pressure pipe networks into a plan/profile drawing and then delete all the parts which are located outside of the plan view's viewport's extents, then make any changes to the source drawing of the data references, all of the unnecessary parts that were previously deleted are added back to the hosting plan/profile drawing after reopening the .dwg and being forced through the synchronization process.

Adding an entire pipe network that could have 100+ pipe network parts to a drawing that only needs to display less than 10 pipe network parts unnecessarily overburdens the speed and efficiency of navigating/opening the .dwg file.

This issue could potentially be avoided if we could define an area where outlying network parts will not synchronize and insert, similar to how the xclip command works with x-references.

Although I may be overlooking a simple workaround to this issue, does anyone have any alternative solutions?

This is not something I normally bother with for the reasons stated in the idea above. A clipping function is a great idea.

This is a great idea. We're looking into how we might reduce the amount of referenced data that needs to come into a drawing and this idea fits in nicely.
