There is already a TIFF plotter is under "Raster Formats" in the Add-a-Plotter dialog.
Using the "TIFF Version 6 (CCITT G4 2D Compression)":
- Results in small output sizes of bitonal TIF images (gray is created nicely as a faxcimile using black and white pixels provided that a suitable resolution was used).
- It is required that a custom paper size be added to the TIFF plotter for each size and resolution desired (each page size & dpi output resolution).
- It is also required that the pen table pen widths be adjusted if your resolution isn't 100dpi (and generally 100dpi is to low a resolution). The adjustment necessary is to multiply target output pen widths by [ResUsed/100].
- Then you can plot to file that size and resolution of bitonal TIF image.
- If an exact scale PDF is to be created from the bitonal image it first must have the dpi set to what was used when it was created. TIF output from AutoCAD has no dpi setting stored within the file. The default value is 72dpi. Without an explicit dpi set it will always be read as 72dpi and not be to scale.
We need the ability to plot to PDF at our specified resolution where the underlying data is simply a compressed bitonal TIF image. This will reduce file sizes and "fix" the content so that it is just white or black pixels and completely unalterable. It needs to offer standard Architectural, Engineering, and other paper sizes and not require scale adjustments to pen tables.
