It happens very often in some parts of the Civil 3D.
For example, if I previously select a sample line and then I go to the ribbon to press [compute materials], the dialog box, the Alignment combobox doesn´t show by default the properly alignment (it should be always the alignment of the selected sample line).
I've been close many times this mistake for this reason.
It happens the same with "Generate volum report" command, if I have selected the sample line previously.
The theory to program this is easy: if there is one selected object (and it is a Civil 3D object) and it can deduce the mean object, then the default alignment will be that.
Another scenario: I select a sample line in the drawing, and in the ribbon I press [Edit sample line], and the "Sample line tools" is without a selected SLG.
I have to select the alignment but it is obvious that I have selected the sample line, the programm can deduce the properly alignment....
If I select a Section (in the section view), and call the command: [sample more sources], then that source automatically should appear highlighted in the form:
I claim predictive behavior.
