Editable C3D Tables

Editable C3D Tables

We need the ability to edit a C3D table like an AutoCAD table. For instance, a pipe table cannot be edited to add a user defined column, or create rows for headers that can contain merged cells. Below is what the Tennessee DOT requires for storm pipe and storm structure tables.

Example TDOT Storm Pipe Table

It is impossible to make tables like this currently in C3D that are dynamic and actually read the pipe network data.

It's also impossible to make a dynamic control point table in C3D that looks like the example below because point objects cannot reference alignments.

The C3D tables need to be AutoCAD tables that can read the model data.

Yes please make C3D tables more customizable like AutoCAD tables. Currently there is very limited ability to edit the style of data. I would really appreciate if there was the ability to create "data styles" similar to "label styles" which are very customisable for things like points labels, pacel labels etc. I regularly have to do this manually (in paperspace). See attached example (column 1).

I'd like to see the ability to add fields to the bottom of a surface analysis legend so that would be possible to (for instance) add a total.

It would be even better if a full range of functions was available to calculate whatever value was desired at the base of a column.

oops... see if you can spot the deliberate error in the table!

Nice idea, not to mention things like running totals and formulas etc..

Would be great to add a formula to a volume surface table for cumulative volume; for stage storage reports.

Yes, @ceethreedee.com that comment was inspired by your blog post.

I found the error!!! You're using metric right?

Nice idea (the OP) - For me, it's right up there AFTER the Analysis tab properly sorting Surfaces by name.

There should be setting of fixed row height instead of padding ...or both. Because there is quite annoying problem with variable row height dependent to content. Row height is different if your text in table contain one of the letters "yjpgq" or not. Or if your text contains some letters with diacritics or not. Problem is obvious on following pictures. There is a table of point group with SPLIT function switched on. There are 55 rows in each table but they are not same size.

On detail of this table, you can see reason. I have drawn red lines to make it more clear.

@autoMick Area is measured in m^2, volume in m^3.  Smiley Happy

@troma  Smiley Tongue LOL... did you see the challenge in the small print (in the original post) first? or did you see the error first? Every time I see it I cringe. I'd give you a kudos for being the first to spot it, but cant work out how to do it here.

Cheers

@autoMick for some reason it didn't strike me until I read  the challange. Weird. I think the brain has a subconcious auto-correct that fixes most stuff like that. Smiley Very Happy

@Anonymous absolutely Row height and column width should be fixed, with the option to have it vary for a rare occasion.

I think the intergration of information is important to any design. I think from a user having to use several applications to get the final result that they were looking for is not very effecient. Does it work, yes assuming that they dont accidently type a wrong number in or something. We also can excel link data into a dwg, but what if it could be just part of the dwg?

With Civil3D I have been able to open information out of the prospector and paste it into a Microsoft Excel file to get total areas, volumes, calcs. etc.

I know Civil3D has tables but are really limited.

The question is, is it possible to make a excel type of app that works within Civil3D Autocad, Where we can keep calcs within the dwg?

Anyways, its just an idea, i am sure others might have a better scenario than that what i have just mentioned, but it is a thought that could possible elminate some errors and effeciencies.
